Meet the Characters

Welcome to Hope Grove, where friends laugh, make mistakes, change their minds, need help and try again. Meet the warm, expressive characters at the heart of POPWAT stories.

Meet Popsi, Opal and Pippa

Popsi the Penguin

Popsi notices possibility when things feel uncertain. He can feel hopeful, worried or unsure, and does not always have the answer.

Opal the owl wearing glasses and holding a book.
Opal the Owl

Opal likes to pause, ask questions and look from more than one point of view. She can misunderstand, listen again and change her mind.

Pippa the bright blue parrot standing with one wing raised.
Pippa the Parrot

Pippa is lively, expressive, witty and wonderfully chatty. She often remembers one more thing, notices quieter voices and never rushes anyone to speak.

More friends to meet

Willow the Whale swimming through a sunlit coral reef.
Willow the Whale

Willow makes space for feelings and listens without rushing. She has feelings of her own too, alongside a gently understated sense of humour.

Arlo the Anole

Arlo is small, curious, energetic and slightly cheeky. Discovery draws him in, even when he feels afraid; sometimes one little look, one bit of help or one more wait is enough

Tilly and Tully — Twin Turtles

Tilly and Tully are twins with a close bond. Tilly looks for the next manageable step; Tully listens a little longer and often finds another way.

Stories with room to feel, laugh and try again

POPWAT stands for The Power of Positive Words, Actions and Thoughts. In our stories, these ideas appear through everyday choices, feelings, humour and friendship.

Words that matter

Children notice how words can help, hurt, invite or repair.

Actions that show care

Small choices can make room for kindness, courage and another try.

Thoughts that can change

Characters can feel unsure, see things differently and find a new way forward.
